This Saturday is our meeting and its nachoes and other party snacks. Anything you would like to add: meat, sour cream, salsa, etc ... feel free to bring. Drinks and other snacks are welcome as well. Just start making a list here on the comments and let everyone know what you are bringing so no double repeats. If you need Mistie's address again, just text her.

The weekend of Sept 11 will be when Cara is in town. So that Saturday night at Misties house we will be discussing Cara's pick. Posting now so everyone has time to plan to be busy for the meeting since Cara is coming from out of town.

And Then There Were None: Murder Mystery Dinner

For this book club meeting, Elizabeth would like us to do a Murder Mystery Dinner. Now for this to work, everyone who says they are coming must come. So for all those interested let us know so we know how many people to plan this event around and when in the next two weeks would work best for everyone.

Also need to decide if we are having the book discussion the same day we have the Dinner or at another time altogether or if the Dinner will take place of the discussion.

Meeting for Love The One You're With

The date has changed to Friday April 2, 2010. Jennifer does not get off till 9pm that night so we will begin at that time. It will be snack night, so just bring something lite. Hope to see everyone there!

I did not realize this was Easter until Cara pointed this out.

I have decided on April 4, 2010 Sunday to host the discussion. It will be at my apartment. Not sure on the time because the work schedule is not up but I am open on sunday nights and I don't mind it being late. Most times we are all pretty much available for this day.

If any one has a problem with this date (besides whether or not you have finished the book) please let me know and we can work around it!

As for what is to be served, I know Bobby wanted to cook for all of you but if he has to work I was thinking of a potluck. Something lite I guess is what I am going for. (depending on the time? Maybe something heavy?)

Meeting for Outlander plus new rule

The bookclub meeting for Outlander will be at Acene's house on March 7, 2010. Time is TBA

New rule is the member who picks the book will set a meeting date. Those who read it will attend, those who don't can always catch up on the next book. No more waiting "3 months" (example) for a meeting.

We still have not set a certain date so we much vote again.
Considering Saturday Nov 28, 2009 for the book club meeting instead of sunday because Arwen does not get off tell 10pm. If everyone is okay meeting that late then it will stay sunday, if not it will be late saturday night (don't remember the time everyone is available), unless we can all come up with another solution.

We seem to be coming to a hard conclusion on when we should meet for the review of "Elantris." Arwen frist suggested before Thanksgiving. Then we found out some members have not even started this months' book club pick. So Arwen said we could meet after Thanksgiving and Suzzie asked about Nov 30.

I think we should put it to a vote. When do you think we should meet up?

I Finished - BookClub Meeting

I finally finished Year of living biblically, tuesday. (I know late post, but hey its here) I really enjoyed it and cant wait for the big talk.

The excitment on why I am very happy I finished, I am the hardest reader in the group. Sometimes I just can't read a book no matter how good it might be. Take Elizabeth's pick persuasion. I only made to page 13. I just couldn't bring myself to read anymore.

Then there is Cara's picks. For some reason, on both of her books I have not been able to finish either one. The devil in the white city, I have about a hundred pages left to read. Chocolat, I am about half way with that one as well. Its just a mind thing I can't over come.

But I have read all the other ones. Which I am very proud of myself for doing. so 3 out of 14 books ain't all that bad. Hopefully Cara's next book I will be able to finish. Third times a charm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
